The Process Of Making Curbs...
Preparation
The first step in the curbing process is to design the layout of the curbs. After a layout is chosen, we need to prepare the area. We do this by leveling the ground with shovels and cutting a path through the sod, if so required, with specialized equipment.

Mixing The Concrete
Once the ground has been prepared, we then begin mixing the concrete. This is done by a large mixer that is attached to our trailer at curbside. Unlike other cement you've seen poured, the mix is a very dry and has two additives to help strengthen the curb. Color is also added at this time if requested.

Extruding The Curb
After mixing two or three batches of concrete, it is placed in wheelbarrows and brought to the prepared site. The extruder is started and concrete is placed into the hopper, one shovel full at a time. The machine then begins to move and is constantly being leveled and steered by the opperator.

The Fininshing Touches
Once about fifty feet of curb is extruded, we begin to finsh the surface. This includes building the ends of the curb and troweling the curb to a nice, smooth surface. If a stamp pattern is to be applied, it is done at this time, then control joints are cut into the curb every three to four feet. The curb is now done and if so wanted, can be sealed at the end of the day or later.
